Parish Groups

We have a dedicated group of people who help prepare people of all ages for the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Credit Union

The Credit Union is a co-operative where people can save, and from which people can withdraw low cost loans.

Football team

St. Nicholas’ Church is famous for its football team, which has been going strong for many years.

Guild of St Stephen

The Guild of Saint Stephen aims to encourage the highest standards of serving at the Church's liturgy. The Guild aims to provide altar servers with a greater understanding of the liturgy so that they may serve with increasing reverence and prayerfulness.

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council meets regularly throughout the year to organise parish events and advise the Parish Priest.  It is composed of parishioners from St. Nicholas’ and from Our Lady of Good Counsel Churches.

The St Vincent de Paul Society ("SVP") is an international Christian voluntary organization dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Active in England & Wales since 1844, today it continues to address social and material need in all its many forms. Our Parish group meets biweekly after the Thursday evening Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Prayer Group

The group aims to grow closer to Jesus Christ through praying together, "whenever two or three gather in my name, I am truly present" Matt 18:20. We meet biweekly after the Thursday evening Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Mothers’ Prayers

Mothers’ Prayers was formed to help those mothers who wished to pray together for their children and grandchildren and to find the support they needed. The group meets after Mass on Tuesday mornings at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Their website can be found at www.mothersprayers.org/

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

The Parish Priest permits some members of the faithful to be Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.  The Church permits the use of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion when the number of faithful requesting Holy Communion is such that the celebration of Mass would be unduly prolonged, and outside of Mass, when it is difficult because of distance to take the sacred species, especially in the Viaticum or to the sick in danger of death (Immensae Caritatis, 1973).
